THE MISSION:

The ultimate mission of Fontainebleau is to provide our students with the ability and tools necessary to function successfully in an advancing society.

Fontainebleau High School is committed to an exemplary interscholastic athletics program that functions as part of the school culture. Fontainebleau is dedicated to providing an outstanding program with safe facilities, staffed by qualified personnel. This program offers competitive opportunities for physical, mental and social development of student-athletes. The athletic program will be funded on a stable, consistent basis from the broad range of public, private and participant sources.

Student-athletes that have registered prior to the launch of the new website will be required to log into their current account under the old website: www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.

Parent Coach Communication

Procedure to Use in Discussing Concerns with Coach

Call to set up an appointment. Please keep in mind that most of our coaches are classroom teachers and meeting time during the academic day may be limited. Your coaches school phone number is (985)892-7112
If the coach cannot be reached, please call the Athletic Director.
Please DO NOT attempt to confront a coach before, during or after a contest /practice. This can be an emotional time for all parties. Meetings in this setting usually do not promote resolution.

The Next Step

What can a parent do if the meeting with the Coach did not provide a satisfactory resolution?

Call and set up an appointment with the Athletic Director to discuss the situation.
At this meeting, further appropriate steps can be discussed and determined

Parent/Coach Relationships

Both parenting and coaching are extremely difficult vocations. By establishing an understanding of each position, we are better able to accept the actions of the others and provide greater benefits to our students. As parents, when your child becomes involved in our program, you have a right to understand the expectations placed on your child. This begins with clear communication from the coach of your child’s team.

Appropriate Concerns to Discuss with Coaches:

The treatment of your child mentally and physically.
Ways to help your child improve.
Concerns about your child’s behavior.
Academic concerns.

Issues NOT Appropriate to Discuss with Coach:

Playing time.
Team Strategy
Play calling.
Other student-athletes

Communication You Can Expect From the Coach:

Philosophy of the coach.
Expectations the coach has for your child as well as all members of the team.
Location and times of all practices and contests, as well as, policies on pick-up times.

Communication Your Coaches Can Expect From Parents:

Concerns expressed directly to the coach
Notification of any schedule conflicts well in advance.
Specific concerns regarding a coach’s philosophy and/or expectations.

Expectations

Things Parents Must Understand

Being part of a team is a privilege.
Students do not have an inherent right to make a team.
Parents are asked to join booster clubs for the benefit of the athletes. There is no favor or entitlement if you do.
Playing time is a coach's decision and will not be discussed.
Students should be the first person to discuss concerns with a coach. Should a parent feel the concern is unresolved they should then contact the coach.
Respect a coaches time with their family. Calls to a coach's home should be avoided.
